Attendance
As a student at Pacific Rim Language Institute, one is expected to maintain
good attendance and adhere to the scheduled completion date. Students must
work diligently to acquire the many language skill needed for successful
completion of each class.
Class Size
Classes are generally limited to a maximum of fifteen students so as to
insure that each student receives individualized attention from the instructor.
Tardiness
Students arriving in class more than fifteen minutes late are considered
absent for that class hour. Similarly, if a student leaves earlier than
fifteen minutes before the scheduled end of the last class hour of the day, the
student is considered absent for that class hour.
Leave of Absence
Requests for leaves of absence must be submitted in writing to the office
staff. Time off for illness is permitted only when verified by written
documentation from a certified medical doctor who is the attending
physician. Other leaves are granted at the discretion of the school
director.
Student Conduct
Any student may be dismissed from the school for inappropriate
behavior, yelling, aggressive or threatening actions, theft, vandalism of any
sort, illegal drug use, or the use of alcohol. Similarly, sexual
harassment, racial discrimination, behaviors that violate school rules,
disobedient or disrespectful behavior towards students, staff, or instructors
will also not be tolerated and will result in suspension, or at the school
director's sole discretion, dismissal from school.
Grading
Letter grades are not assigned. Student progress is based on student's
attendance, class participation, scores on tests as well as oral and aural
abilities.
