TOEFL Preparation

In TOEFL Preparation, students prepare for the Listening, Structure, and Written Comprehension, and Reading sections of the TOEFL.  In Advanced TOEFL Preparation students also prepare for the Writing section of the computer-based TOEFL.

All TOEFL classes promote active listening comprehension skills and review complex grammar structures that recur on the test.  Students also work on recognizing common American idiomatic expressions.  Classes engage in ongoing vocabulary-building based on the study of academic word lists, root words, prefixes and suffixes, with added emphasis on identifying meaning through paragraph context.  For reading passages, students practice the skills necessary to identify topics and ideas, locate specific details and facts, and make critical inferences.

In Advanced TOEFL, students taking the computer-based International TOEFL review and practice the process and form for writing a cohesive academic essay.
